I joined AAE for an internship to gain in-depth insights into Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through this platform, engage with diverse entrepreneur communities, and draw inspiration from their practical experiences and challenges to broaden my business thinking. During this internship, I chose “Green Business Model Research” starting on February 24,2026. The core objective of this research is to explore green business models that help enterprises enhance competitiveness, attract investments, and achieve a win-win between environmental protection and economic benefits. After screening, I selected Habib Adam as my research subject. His profile page address is: https://allafripreneurs.org/my-profile/uid/4190. The primary reasons for choosing him are his unique personal image, clear business needs, and a business field that aligns closely with the research direction I plan to explore.
This study constructs a green business model with “circular economy + localized empowerment” as its core. The specific implementation plan is as follows:
1. Green Transformation and Localization Empowerment of Used Car Business
Supply chain upgrade: It is recommended to shift the business focus to introducing cost-effective Chinese new energy used cars. This move not only meets the rigid demand for affordable transportation in the African market but also promotes the popularization of clean energy vehicles at the source.
Supporting service development: To address critical challenges such as insufficient local charging infrastructure in Africa, it is recommended to invest in establishing localized maintenance and battery inspection service systems. This not only alleviates concerns regarding the use of new energy vehicles but also effectively extends vehicle lifespan, replacing high-pollution fuel-powered older vehicles, thereby truly implementing the concept of circular economy.
2. Upgrading of Natural Rubber Business Chain and Sustainable Practice
Value chain extension: Change the past simple raw material export mode, it is suggested to invest in the construction of local clean processing plant, improve the added value of products, and create local employment opportunities.
Green technology application: In the rubber processing process, advanced water recycling technology is introduced to reduce the impact of industrial production on the local environment and ensure the green sustainability of the business.
Sustainable supply chain management: Establish direct procurement channels with local rubber farmers to ensure stable and traceable raw material sources, support community development, and strengthen the foundation of localized operations.
3. Business Synergy and Value Realization: Integration of Carbon Trading Mechanism
The green practices of these two business segments are organically integrated. The emission reductions from promoting new energy vehicles in the used car business, combined with carbon emission reductions achieved by the rubber processing plant through energy-saving technological upgrades, are jointly developed into quantifiable and verifiable carbon credits. By participating in the international carbon trading market, environmental protection efforts are transformed into direct economic benefits, creating new profit growth points for the enterprise and forming a positive cycle of a green business ecosystem.
By deeply integrating green technology with carbon trading mechanisms, this solution is poised to become a pivotal strategy for enterprises to achieve differentiated competition, attract green investments, and realize sustainable development in the new era.
