Introduction:
I chose to intern with the African Association of Entrepreneurs (AAE) to support sustainable economic development across Africa. AAE’s focus on empowering local entrepreneurs aligns with my goal of applying green business models to drive inclusive, eco-friendly growth.
Task Overview:
For this internship, I selected the Green Business Model Analysis task, completed on February 26, 2026. The purpose was to identify scalable green strategies for a selected African entrepreneur, enhancing their enterprise’s sustainability, profitability, and impact on local communities. This task required deep analysis of the entrepreneur’s operations, market context, and existing sustainable practices to develop tailored recommendations.
Selected Entrepreneur:
I chose Orjiako Vivian Chinasa, founder of Viviousfarm Enterprise, whose profile is accessible at http://viviousfarm.com.tilda.ws. Based in Lagos, Nigeria, Viviousfarm specializes in catfish and poultry farming, producing fresh and dried catfish, broilers, eggs, and organic feed using sustainable practices. I selected Vivian because her enterprise already embodies a commitment to sustainability—producing affordable, high-quality protein while prioritizing eco-friendly feed and local economic growth. This existing foundation makes her an ideal partner to scale green models that balance profitability with environmental and social impact.
Analysis:Green Business Model for Viviousfarm
Viviousfarm’s existing sustainable practices provide a strong foundation to scale a circular, low-carbon business model. Key topics for analysis include circular feed systems, renewable energy integration, and eco-labeling for market differentiation.
First, circular feed systems can reduce costs and environmental impact by repurposing local agricultural waste into organic feed, minimizing reliance on imported inputs. Second, integrating solar-powered water pumps and drying systems can cut fossil fuel use, lower operational expenses, and enhance resilience to climate variability. Third, carbon-neutral product labeling can attract eco-conscious buyers, access premium markets, and strengthen the enterprise’s brand as a leader in sustainable agriculture. These strategies align with Viviousfarm’s mission to advance food security while reducing its ecological footprint.
Conclusion
Viviousfarm’s commitment to sustainable agriculture positions it to lead in green business model adoption across Nigeria’s agri-food sector. By scaling circular feed systems, renewable energy, and eco-labeling, the enterprise can enhance profitability while advancing food security and environmental stewardship. This internship has reinforced my belief that African entrepreneurs are pivotal to building a sustainable future, and I am eager to continue supporting initiatives that empower them to thrive.
