Choosing and completing a task

Choosing Tasks

Remote work require reliable sources, clear definitions, and honest communication boundaries. Tasks Operators should confirm the purpose, deadline, and expected format of each task with their supervisor. Because some materials include personal or business information, consider privacy and avoid unnecessary disclosure.

  • An operator must be an approved member of any of the All Afripreneurs volunteering groups, to undertake a task.
  • Please read brief descriptions of tasks on the Tasks descriptions pages. If you don’t find a relevant choice, then please raise this concern with your supervisor. Tasks run in online mode only
  • Task descriptions and availabilities may change, at any time, reflecting changing project needs.
  • Choose tasks relevant to your background, professional or learning aspirations.
  • Task choices may include at least one active task – for immediate assignment
  • If you choose a currently unavailable task, it will be assigned to you when it becomes available
  • When your task choices are approved, a detailed downloadable task guide will be sent to you as well as stand-by, ongoing supervisor support.
  • Please consider your current schedule before committing to a task. While we respect operators’ current regular schedule requirement, they must ensure timely start and completion of tasks, as agreed. And must notify the supervisor if any changes should occur in their schedules
  • Task operators are welcome to switch a task, if they find the one under assignment, unsuitable.

Completing Tasks

  • AAE’s task supervision by objectives approach  aims to align operators performance with AAE/Member goals to improve efficiency and boost motivation.
  • Participants should submit weekly task progress updates on Tuesdays.
  • Except for direct tasks from members, all assigned tasks are supervised by the AAE Global Management Team.
  • Task completion reports are expected as agreed, and should be submitted in a word format and by email. All reports MUST include the department/area name(s), date of submission and the name of the reporter. The report filename should contain the full name of the reporter
  • In ensuring that report meets our standards, participants should ask an AAE Volunteer Editor to review the report draft prior to submission. All task reports should include formatted MLA-style reference list and In-text citations, ensuring that every data point and external source is clearly documented.
  • Operators commit to a minimum 11-15 hour per week schedule, and complete all assignments within the selected service period, as much as possible. After completing a task, participants may undertake another task during their active term .
  • Operators may be assigned to an external supported group or project and may receive additional completion certificates from same.
  • Operators who achieve outstanding performance in their tasks will be issued with Letter of Recommendation in addition to the Completion/Appreciation Certificate.
  • Please alert your supervisor during the last week of your session and submit all task completion reports so that we can initiate the issuance of completion letters on time.
  • Additionally, while not compulsory, but highly encouraged, blog or video versions of final summary reports should be submitted for publishing on our website. Video reports can be posted on a social media platform and the link to the video report submitted.
  • Operators who are unable to complete assigned task(s) will be deemed “not completed” and may be offered an extension or restart, on sole discretion of the supervisor(s).
  • Operators may request access to our report archives, if needed.
  • The Volunteering Desk is closed on Wednesdays: Operators may not get replies to emails on Wednesdays
  • Should you encounter any any broken links in the task pages, please report ASAP citing the location for prompt c
Communicating with fellow volunteers

We encourage the use of a formal communication tone when communicating with fellow volunteers and entrepreneurs. In an intercultural/international professional setting, the use of formality and politeness can help avoid confusion and misunderstandings. This will also generate good mutual respect with your audience and result in an effective teamwork.

  • You must log in to view the contact email addresses of others.
  • Communication tools typically used for collaboration are email and virtual conferences. Where a task requires official email communications, an AAE email account will be assigned to you. Please use this account for official communications only and for the avoidance of doubt in the minds of recipients. However, sometimes delivery challenges such as messages being rejected by Hotmail/Outlook due to our sending IP being blocked by their anti‑spam system, may occur. Only, in this case, you may use your personal email, cc’ing info@allafripreneurs.org on all communications.
  • Sometimes, email messages are delivered to your SPAM folders in error. Please check to be sure you don’t miss messages from AAE.
  • AAE usually responds to email mesages immediately or up to 36 hours of receipt. If you don’t get a response within a reasonable time frame, please resend your message.
  • Video conferences between two or more users, group and Inter-group level meetings may be arranged.
